What facilities do you want to see as part of Armstrong Village? And why?

kvsu

Plans for the new Armstrong Creek suburb include a range of community facilities such as schools, shopping, recreation facilities, function centres and more. Let us know what you want to see as part of Armstrong Village?

Geelong Lutheran College is already established right opposite this development on the corner of Burvilles Rd and Surfcoast Highway, providing a low fee, Christian education for primary and secondary students. Currently with 100 students in modern facilities, the College will grow to be a full P-12 College in 2014.
Therfore if you move to Armstrong Village you will have a local school available immediately.

Villawood has a great reputation for lovely housing estates - Armstrong Village should be along the lines of your previous efforts with wider streets, nice street lighting, wetlands and boardwalks, shopping/bistro/coffee lounges and schooling and sporting venues for growing families. Building restrictions/guidelines similar to Warrallilly should also be encouraged including water saving devices such as tanks so that nicer looking and more sustainable properties are the result. The community centre is also a good idea.

Great initiative, asking the community to participate in shaping Geelong's newest suburb. Variety of shopping, schools and parks would be great. Something for teenagers. Agree with Cheryl re focus on sustainable housing. smilies/cool.gif

Community facilities are really important in new areas. I think it is important to include parks, schools, shopping and access to public transport, all of which will help to make for a great community area. Looking forward to seeing things progress at Armstrong Village!

The provision of recycled water to this development will be great for the area. This will also negate the need to provide tanks as suggested in an earlier comment.

It would be great if a community had a church that loved the community and was loved by the community. It would be a church that was relevant and culturally appropriate to the community of Armstrong Village and that contributed to the community in a way that was valued by the community.

As a young couple looking to start a family and settle in this area I want to feel safe and I think a police station would be useful on this side of town so the community feel safer. I think single dwelling properties will be better so it's not over populated. I would love to see lots of Green parkland/trees and nice cafe's like in Pakington Street. I think a nice community feel is importnant and walking tracks for those who love to get outside. Alot of people are too scared to leave their houses in some locations of Geelong so the feeling of safety is very important and will encourage more people to get out and enjoy nature and this community. I just want to thank you also for giving us, the potential residents an opportunity to share ideas. Thank you.

BIGGER BLOCKS!!!! smilies/angry.gif You can build anything decent on small 500-600sq blocks, like what waralilly is offering. If you are a young family with kids , you want a decent backyard after building a house.
WIDER STREETS Nothing worse than getting stuck on streets where cars parked on either side.
CHEAP ACCESS TO RECYCLED WATER
MORE PARKS,RESERVES AND FACILITIES FOR FAMILIES
WALKING PATHS ALONGSIDE LAKES, WELL LIT UP AT NIGHT TIME
HIGH SPEED BROADBAND
STYLISH STREET LIGHTS
BUILDING COVENANTS/RESTRICTIONS
COMPULSORY WATER TANKS ON ALL PROPERTIES
MORE COURTS IN SUBDIVISIONS

I agree with Tim August 09, 2010. Along with bigger blocks and single storey only dwellings. The street layouts should be designed for best Solar Passive orientation and a building covenant that all homes must be solar passive.
